HOPE

"That's how it works with my words. They don't return to me without doing everything I send them to do." -Isaiah 55:11

We teach and train our kids in the faith, and we take them to church, Sunday school, youth group, and Bible camp. We send them on mission trips, and we pray for and with them. Even so, they sometimes make decisions that lead them away from Jesus. We are crushed, heartbroken, and overwhelmed with sadness and sorrow. Does this sound familiar? And yet...

Isaiah 55:11 is so filled with hope. This Scripture teaches us that the faithfulness of God's Word is ever fruitful. His words are not pie-in-the-sky naiveté but truth. Promises. Believable. Inspired. Inspiring. Trustworthy. Full and complete. And they do everything that God sends them to do.

Father,  I so much want my kids to know who you are. I want them to know and experience your power and majesty. I want them to know your peace and promises. I want them to come to you with their burdens and lay them at your feet and find rest. I want them to know that the joy of your salvation is greater than anything that might bring them temporary happiness here on earth. I want them to know you deeply and intimately. I want them to escape the sorrows of their sin and instead know freedom. I want each of these things and more, because you want them for my kids. I praise and thank you for your words of hope. Amen!
