As we walk through life, we find ways to increase the distance we can go. We run far and fast as we achieve our way to the next best opportunity. The question, "What's next?" directs our Path. The question, "NOW what?" dictates our speed. We desire more and let life's opportunities guide our steps.
If we invite God into the conversation, we ask for a two-year forecast or a five-year plan. We want him to reveal a clear and accurate picture of the life ahead of us, SO We can decide whether we want to take that path. But when We go to God for guidance, We need to understand that speed and distance are not his priority.
We want headlights, but God's Word is a lamp. A lamp can only light up the next few steps of a journey. If we look ahead too far, if we move our feet to fast, we may forget who were walking with. When God guides our steps and we go at the pace he reveals, we will be going the right direction, toward him. And we will be going the right way, with him.
Prayer: God, as you light the next steps of my journeys give me the courage to walk in your ways. Guide me closer to you as I lean in to the plans you have for my life. Amen
